Dimmer module DIM04 with LED lamps

#1 Post by fransvandenabeele » Sat Sep 21, 2019 6:06 pm

Hallo,

I want to replace 4 halogens 230V/120W with LED types consuming 8W.
First I tested 1 and saw that the lamp doesn't dim completely.
I attach the specs of the LED.
Is there a minimum load required for use with the DIM04?

Best regards,
Frans Vandenabeele

If the type you are mentioning (DIM04) is correct, then you are trying to dim LEDs with a dimmer that doesn't support this kind of light.
The DIM04 is an old dimmer - before the LED era, so he doen't know how to dim these.
You should upgrade to the DIM04SA/500U module.

Thanks Nico,

it's an old DIM04.

A question: is this a software or hardware issue?
If hardware, can the DIM04 be modified to be able to handle a low load?
I suppose you don't give free the schematic?
Or under NDA?

Best regards,
Frans
